Someone was bound to think of it: last September, two artists actively participated in an auction sale designed to fund the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and guess what? Some of the works of art that were for sale came from the Loubouton Collection: the ultimate in the art of ‘sewing buttons’…
I especially like this female bust called ‘fifty shades of gray’, completely covered with buttons. Their rounded shapes are designing the delicate profile of the bust… Passionate artists and designers based in Geneva,Natasha Sanz Acedo and Dhr. Bart A. Kistemaker, harvested and collected millions of buttons around the world to satisfy their creative passion. Their collection is surprising and bold. It picks up a lot of strong themes such as the locking device fitted on a red and black console table for example, the feet and central drawer of which are generously covered with sewing buttons. Furthermore, each of their works of art (mirrors, vases, busts, furniture) display an average of 200,000 buttons! The exhibition can be seen on their website and in their gallery in Geneva: the Revaldi House and some other pieces of art are also exhibited in Gstaad.
A noble initiative and true art of the button which BUTTONS PARADISE wants to share with you, the 1001 facets of the button, merely the beginning of an unique adventure!
